Privacy policy
OwnTakeoff is a takeoff tool for measuring PDF building plans. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. You don't need an account, and we don't sell your personal information.
Your plans and takeoffs stay on your device
The PDF plans you open, the scales you set, your conditions and markups, and the files you export are processed and stored only on your computer or phone. OwnTakeoff saves each takeoff as a small file next to the PDF. Nothing of this is sent to us or to anyone else.
Pro licence on Windows (Lemon Squeezy)
The Pro upgrade is sold by our reseller Lemon Squeezy. When you buy, the checkout page inside the app is Lemon Squeezy's own page; your payment details go directly to Lemon Squeezy and its payment processors, and we never see them. Lemon Squeezy's handling of that data is described in its privacy policy.
When you activate, check or free a seat, the app sends Lemon Squeezy your licence key and your computer's name (to label the seat), and receives an activation ID. After activation, the app checks the key in the background when it starts; if you are offline, Pro keeps working.
Advertising on Android (Google AdMob)
OwnTakeoff for Android is free and shows optional rewarded videos (to unlock exports) and occasional full-screen ads between pages through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about how you interact with ads, and basic device and app information.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the app's menu under Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
The Windows version shows no ads.
This website
This site uses no analytics and sets no cookies. The demo video loads from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you press play; YouTube may then set cookies under its own policy. Fonts load from Google Fonts.
Children
OwnTakeoff is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security and retention
Licence and ad requests travel over encrypted connections and are kept according to Lemon Squeezy's and Google's policies. Files on your device stay until you delete them.
Your choices
- Use OwnTakeoff fully offline; only Pro activation needs the internet, once.
- Free a Pro seat from the app (Upgrade > Free this seat).
- Change ad consent in the Android app's menu > Ad privacy choices (where offered), or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Delete your takeoffs by deleting the .takeoff.json files next to your PDFs, or uninstall the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
